6. It is Done! (Revelation 21:6)

I Will Give: The third I-testimony of God in His speech from the throne, “I will give…”, describes His dealing with the Church of Jesus Christ by grace as well as with all who search for Him and are hungry after His peace and righteousness.

God is an always giving God; He sacrificed Himself in His Son so as to rescue his fallen creation from the righteous judgment. Every day God is giving us freely out of His fullness righteousness, peace and strength. If parents in this world who often think and act doubtfully may give their children good gifts again and again, how much more will our Father in heaven give freely to His spiritual children all necessary earthly and heavenly goods (Luke 11:9-13)! However, like David we are world champions in forgetting and must therefore exhort ourselves over and over again, “And forget not all his benefits!” (Psalm 103:2). We ought to repent eagerly and learn to thank our Father in heaven for all His earthly and heavenly gifts with all our heart. For he promised the listeners, “Whoever offers praise glorifies me: and to him that orders his conversation aright will I show the salvation of God.” (Psalm 50:23).

I Will Give to the Thirsty: There are people who think of being satisfied, knowing all things, having done the necessary and having all what they need for live and death. These people are like the leader of the church in Laodicea with whom Jesus was disgusted (Revelation 3:14-16). To this reach man, who was content with himself, the Son of God said, “You do not know that you are wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked.” (Revelation 3:17).

After the revelation of the glorious future of God's children in the presence of their father the All-Merciful addresses His words directly to the churches in Minor Asia which were in part poor or had already to live under an increasing political pressure. (Revelation 2:8-11). Jesus did not promise them that he will rescue them from the upcoming persecutions, but he revealed them his love instead. This love is especially for those who are not content with their own godliness, purity, truth and love, even if these people do not know God and His love. All people searching for God, His Son and His Spirit are loved by the Father.

Whoever is hungry for the righteousness of God and is searching for peace for his guilty conscience, will be blessed by Jesus (Matthew 5:6). Whoever is thirsty for knowledge of God and His will and repents, will be anointed with the Holy Spirit who even searches the deep things of God (1 Corinthians 2:10-12). Unless we are born again we are not able to know the Kingdom of God (John 3:3). Without the Spirit of the Father there is no knowledge of the Son (Mathew 16:17; 1 Corinthians 12:3; 1 John 2:23; and other verses). Therefore the Almighty and His Lamb promise to satisfy our thirst for God and His Son (Revelation 22:17).

PRAYER: Loving Father, as the earthly parents give their children bread and water every day, so You grant your spiritual children, on a higher level, life, forgiveness, Your Holy Spirit, strength, comfort, courage, knowledge and everything they need for their spiritual life. Our universe is based on Your continuous giving. Help us to deliver of Your gifts what is needed by those who thirst for righteousness, so that we may not be like the Dead Sea, but like the Tiberian Lake, which is full of fish. Amen.

QUESTION:

  1. What did you receive from Christ up till now? For what did you thank Him?
