l) Jesus First Prediction of His Death and Resurrection (Matthew 16:21-28)

MATTHEW 16:28
28 Most certainly I tell you, there are some standing here who will in no way taste of death, until they see the Son of Man coming in his Kingdom.”
(Matthew 10:23, Luke 9:27)

Christ proclaimed His death and resurrection to His disciples, making clear to them His coming in glory and His authority to judge. He opens His kingdom only to those that deny themselves. Whoever dies to self shall not die forever. Eternal life shall dwell in whoever adheres to Christ, and he shall never taste death, for he has entered into the kingdom of God.

Christ confirmed this fact when He said, “He who believes in me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives spiritually and believes in me shall never die.” (John 11:25-26).

Do you believe this?

PRAYER: O Son of the Holy One, You know me. I am wicked from childhood. Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. I glorify You because You are Holy, and because You described to me the way of denying myself. Put my cross upon me and help me that I may not throw it down, but follow You with all those that are bearing their own crosses, dying to self, that Your love and power will dwell in me. You are my life; for to me, to die is gain.

QUESTION:

  1. Why did Jesus warn His followers about His coming for the judgment?
