8. The Servants of God Will Serve Him and See His Face (Revelation 22:3-5)

God's Servants Serve as Royal Priests: The almighty God, creator of heaven and earth, the all-knowing Lord, who upholds and preserves all things in His favor, this God enthrones in His holy city in an unveiled manner. That means that through the blood of Christ and His Holy Spirit the salvation plan has been accomplished. God's servants will serve Him, in fact without hard hat and sun glasses. They are sanctified through His grace and will therefore not be killed by His fullness of light. (Exodus 33:20-23; Isaiah 6:5). They have become children of His light (Ephesians 5:8-9).

The servants of God serve voluntarily and out of gratitude. They are not worship slaves like Muslims in Islam, but beloved children of their Father in heaven (Revelation 21:7). Their service is in accordance with the service of the royal priests before the throne of God (Exodus 19:6; Isaiah 61:6; 1 Peter 2:5.9; Revelation 1:6; 5:10; and other verses). Blessed is he who already today has a prayer list ready to hand on his bedside table so as in times of sleeplessness to bring the names and needs of those people before the throne of God of whom the Lord had reminded him. Sometimes it is more important to talk with God about our own children, particularly, if they during their adolescence are not willing any longer to listen to their parents. Many politicians, scientists and sociologists may be at a loss because only a few priestly praying believers keep on praying for them. If you complain about your pastor or preacher, then you may at first complain of yourself, because the pastor of a church needs faithful intercession. Whoever practices intercession for other people and thanksgiving and faith in place of other people, prepares himself for the service of the chosen priests before the throne of God.

The service of the servants of God is not restricted to the spiritual caring for relatives and friends but is also focused on worshipping the triune God. Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks! (Matthew 12:34; Luke 6:45) If you love God with all his heart, then you will give also thanks to him and worship him. The praises of the churches here on earth are often inspired by heaven. Many parts of the hymns of Martin Luther, Paul Gerhard, Gerhard Teerstegen or Philipp Friedrich Hiller are not just composed by man but inspired by the Holy Spirit. How much more will the knowledge of the Father and the Son in their glorious reality initiate an echo of worship, joy and thanksgiving! The vigorous rejoicing of the heavenly choirs may thrill us to constant praise of God so that we are to the praise of his glorious grace Ephesians 1:6.12.14 and other verses).

This praise on the new earth will not only be given to God, the Father, but likewise to the Lamb. Chapter 22:3-5 speaks of God and the Lamb, the following pronouns are, however, singular as both persons are one (John 10:30). Our mind refuses to address two persons as one person, but this is exactly the spiritual reality, which is rejected in a rage by many Jews and Muslims. Whoever is not born again through the Holy Spirit will find it hard to recognize the unity of God in His trinity (John 14:8-11; 17:20-23; 1 John 2:21-25; 4:1-6).

PRAYER: We thank You, Heavenly Father, we praise Your Lamb slain for the salvation of sinners, and we magnify Your love and holiness, Your patience and faithfulness. Without the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit we could be worthless. Please make our life praise for Your glory and mercy, and save all those we pray for them that they may be filled with Your grace, and praise You joyfully. Amen.

QUESTION:

  1. Why are the three ONE in the mystery of eternal divinity?
