GENESIS - What Do You Think About Adam and Eve?
The Beginnings of Human Life, of Sin and of God's Plan of Salvation

08 -- Do you fulfill your sin?

GENESIS 3:6-7
6 And the woman saw that the tree was good for eating, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was desirable to make one wise. So she took of its fruit and ate and she also gave to her husband, who was with her, and he ate. 7 Then the eyes of both were opened, and they knew that they were naked. So they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loincloths.

The woman stood between the word of God and the lie of Satan. Whom did she believe? In like manner, we stand today between the message of the Gospel and a thousand twisted beliefs. To whom do you deliver your soul? Philosophies, religions as well as political parties promise you a Paradise on earth, which you have to build up with your own strength and diligence. But the Gospel offers you freely the forgiveness of your sins and a fellowship with God, which does not end with death. What do you chose?

In his pride man ran after a mirage of greatness, and loved it more and more. With this he moved away from God and the attraction of sin grew for him. Finally he decided to try sin out, hoping that maybe he would become clever and learned without God. So evil descended upon him and the spirit of Satan filled him, but Satan left his followers to themselves. If man loves his sin, it will push him to practice it and it rules over him, making him its slave. So he desires and commits his offence. Do you remember the moments, when you violated the commandments of God in your life? Every sin is a revolution against God, and every enmity makes your immediate death necessary.

How astonishing! The sinner also attracts others to join him in transgressing against the commandments of God, as though he enjoys that they also attain his own destiny.

Adam was not better than his wife. Maybe on that day he was tired from his work and returned home exhausted. He was expecting that he would find rest and peace near his wife. But in a moment of foolishness he unwittingly agreed with her opinion and accepted her idea, to try out making themselves great without God and acting against his commandments. Man imagined becoming heroic, but he became vain.

Now the revolt of our first parents against God changed their essences immediately. They became aware of their nakedness and hid themselves. Their separation from God also changed their bodies. The glory bestowed on them left them, their faces and eyes became sadly downcast and their heart became lustful. Previously they had lived in purity as children of God, but after their fall into sin, lust and shamefulness ruled over them. And the reason for all this was their pride and lack of trust in the love of God. Examine your heart: Are you humble and steadfast in the love of God, or do you willingly sin against him?

MEMORIZE: And the woman saw that the tree was good for eating, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was desirable to make one wise. So she took of its fruit and ate and she also gave to her husband, who was with her, and he ate. (Genesis 3:6)

PRAYER: Oh Father, I confess my pride. Forgive me my lusts and drive out the spirit of Satan from me, so that I may become pure, good and affectionate, like your Son Jesus Christ remained in his humility. Save me from the slavery of my sins through the blood of Christ, with all believers in Mauretania, Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger.
