8. The Servants of God Will Serve Him and See His Face (Revelation 22:3-5)
His Name Will be on Their Foreheads: Those who serve God will be shaped by Him. The name of the Lord will be burnt invisibly in the foreheads of those who had committed themselves faithfully to him so as to serve him. In case of animals the special mark of the owner is its brand. As for children, the hereditary factors of their parents and grandparents can be seen in their faces. Christ said about himself, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me.” (Luke 4:18). The Son has completely been shaped by his Father and the Spirit. It is a privilege of broken servants of Christ that the name of the Father, the name of New Jerusalem and the name of Jesus Christ are written on them (Revelation 3:12). The Antichrist, too, will engrave his name into the foreheads of his followers through his lying prophets as an outward sign of their inner obsession. From far away it is to be seen whose spirit's child a man is (Revelation 13:16-17). The harlot Babylon, too, had her name visibly on her forehead so that everybody may know who she is and what she may offer (Revelation 17:5).
Everybody should think of which name is engraved in his forehead. It is impossible to have engraved two or three names. We have to decide in favor of one master completely and for ever. The royal priests before the throne of God have the name of the triune God on their foreheads. The same name is pronounced upon Christians when they are baptized. Who is aware of the deep significance of this privilege?
PRAYER: Our Father in heaven, we rejoice and give thanks that You gathered and entered us into Your heavenly family and we are You own and Your property. Forgive us if we did not walk as befits Your holiness. Sanctify us completely so that we may not disgrace Your fatherly name. We magnify You because the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit was pronounced upon us when we were baptized, and we plead with You to realize the meanings of these names in us. Amen.
