2. Statements About the Millennium in the Book of Revelation (Revelation 20:1-4b)

The Binding of Satan for a Thousand Years: Whoever engrosses into the life of Jesus with prayer will see different stages in his battle against Satan, the enemy of God:

  • The Evil One already wanted to kill Jesus through King Herod when he was a baby and could not speak yet (Matthew 2:16-8).
  • After he was baptized in the Jordan, the Son of God was driven by the Spirit into the desert so as to fast for forty days and nights and afterwards in his bodily weakness to uncover the cunning of the tempter (Matthew 4:1-11; Mark 1:12-13; Luke 4:1-13). Already in the beginning of his service he pierced in this manner the old serpent with his command, “You shall worship the Lord your God, and him only shall you serve!” (Matthew 4:10).
  • The Son of God had come so as to destroy the works of the devil (1 John 3:8). He healed sick people, cast out devils and raised the dead. He calmed down storm, and he overcame the hatred of his enemies.
  • Peter who due to an inspiration of the Father in heaven boldly bore a seminal witness to Christ tried later to keep his Lord from the way to the cross. But Jesus immediately recognized the satanic inspiration in Peter and rebuked the speaker of his disciples, “Get behind me, Satan: you are an offence unto me: for you savor not the things that are of God, but those that are of men!” (Matthew 16:22-23)
  • The arch enemy of God and of His Son entered into Judas, the thief, so that he afterwards betrayed Jesus (John 13:21-30) But the Lord called the demoniac nevertheless, “my friend” (Matthew 26:48-50).
  • The multitude of Torah fanatics who were collectively bound by the spirit of Satan shouted before Pilate, the Roman governor of Jerusalem, Crucify him! (Matthew 27:22-25). But Jesus prayed for his enemies, “Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they do!” (Luke 23:34)
  • Even when Jesus hung on the cross, Satan repeatedly tried to seduce him to sin and disobedience (Matthew 27:39-44).But the Son of God continued without sinning. This was the prerequisite for the legitimacy of his atoning death in our place. Through his holiness and lowliness the old serpent was judged.
  • When Jesus died on the cross, Satan seemed to have defeated and destroyed the Son of God definitely. But the opposite was true! In his utmost weakness and by dying out his earthly live the high priest Jesus accomplished the offering of himself as the perfect and effectual atonement sacrifice for all sinners. Therewith he justified everybody who believes in him (2 Corinthians 5:21). The apparent defeat of Jesus, his death on the pillory of the cross was in reality his greatest triumph! Since then millions of ransomed have been shouting, “Salvation to our God which sits upon the throne, and unto the Lamb!” (Revelation 7:10). Satan was not able to prevent the atoning sacrifice of Jesus. He remained powerless against the holy love of God's Lamb.
  • Since the time of the lost battle the prime Evil One has been trying to tempt the spiritual body of Jesus, his church, and to lead astray, to poison, to occupy and to destroy it. The liar and murderer from the beginning is using every method and every wile of temptation for this purpose. The blood of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, cleanses us from all sin (1 John 1:7). “For by one (single) offering he (Jesus) has perfected for ever them that are sanctified.” (Hebrews 10:14)
  • The father of lies has thrown a net of lies over mankind by means of antichristian religions, ideologies, philosophies and customs so as to keep it from the cross. All doctrines and systems, which deny the Son of God and his perfect salvation, are delusions and lies spread by the Devil and attacks of him aimed against God and His Anointed. (Psalm 2:1-4; Acts 4:25-30; Revelation 11:18a and other verses)
  • The fury of Satan grew immensely after he, the accuser of the church, had been cast out of heaven (Revelation 12:7-12). Through the ascension of the Lamb of God, our high priest, he was dispelled from there. Since the accomplished justification of all sinners on the cross of Christ there is no room and no right for the devil in heaven any longer. The blood of Jesus will stump in the bud every accusation of him against them. Through the witness of the followers of Jesus the prey will be torn out of the fangs of the wolf of wolfs.
  • Therefore “the most cunning of all” calls Antichrist, his son, out of the multitude of the nations so that he may weaken and destroy the spiritual body of Christ with cunning and plague, deception and torture. Whoever does not receive the mark of the ruler, who is possessed by Satan, chooses deliberately death so as to live with Christ in eternity. Their dying demonstrates a further victory of Jesus and a defeat of Satan.
  • When Jesus appears with the innumerable great multitude of his living saints so as to judge Antichrist, not any word will be necessary in order to demonstrate the complete defeat of Satan and his accomplices. The existence of the glorified church in their white robes of God's righteousness will shut the mouth of the enemy of God.
  • The expulsion of Antichrist and his false prophet into the fire hell hurts Satan deep in his heart. He had provided his wicked son with all his power and his throne. But his tricks, lies, deceptions, power and murders were bounced off the threefold holy God, the sinless Lamb and his justified church. “Christ is victor", this is one of the screams of terror of the demons before they will be cast out of the possessed through the name of Christ and his power. They know that the Son of God appeared so as to destroy their works on this earth. They believe too that God is only “one Lord", but they tremble (James 2:19).
  • Jesus deprives not only Antichrist of his power but also throws Satan, from whom Antichrist originates, into the Abyss. At first he was banished from heaven, and now he will be banished from the earth into the Abyss.

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, the Risen Crucified One, we worship You because of Your numerous battles against the enemy of good and Your continuous victory over him, particularly in the hour of the weakness of Your body on the cross. We worship to You because You remained sinless, and You justified us by Your atoning death and gave us life through Your Holy Spirit. Deliver us from the Evil One and preserve us in You, for You are our only resort. Amen.

QUESTION:
