GENESIS - What Do You Think About Adam and Eve?
The Beginnings of Human Life, of Sin and of God's Plan of Salvation

15 -- What do you think about Adam and Eve?

1 CORINTHIANS 15:22
For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

God created Adam and Eve in His own image, breathing into Adam His divine breath of life. God placed him in the Garden of Eden to work it and guard it and the LORD warned him of eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, lest he die. But in spite of all the goodness that God had bestowed on Adam and on his wife Eve, first she, tempted by Satan in the guise of a serpent, and then he himself, Adam, the first created man, rebelled against God and they both ate from the forbidden tree. The result was devastating. In His mercy, the LORD God did not kill Adam and Eve on the spot; however, he punished them with pain and suffering. Ultimately, many years later, both Adam and his wife Eve did die, because of their separation from God, their only source of life. Also all their offspring died or will die, their weak second-born son, Abel, dying even at the hand of their strong first-born son, Cain, who killed him. Thus sin and death spread to all mankind. This is the reason why you and I also must die.

However, God saw that Satan had his hands in the matter, who had seduced Eve to commit her evil rebellion against God and against His goodness. God did not destroy Satan, but punished him with His divine plan of salvation: the seed of the woman would crush the head of Satan in the moment, in which Satan would crush the heel of the seed of Eve, the wife of Adam. Who is this seed of Eve? Christ, the Son of God! He, as the son of Mary, had become a Son of Man in order to fulfill this plan of salvation, which God instituted from the beginning. How did Christ crush Satan's head? He did this by allowing the enemies of God, who are Satan's seed, to bring about his bloody and painful murder on the cross. There Christ, out of love for you and me, sacrificed His blood for the remission of our sins. Through this act of total obedience to God, His Father -- the exact opposite of the rebellion of Adam and Eve against their Creator -- the Son of God, who had become the Son of Man, established the legal basis for God to forgive us our sins, in harmony with God's holiness and righteousness. Therefore Christ also justly rose from the dead, conquering the very aim that Satan had for all sons of Adam, namely their death. In this act of obedience and triumph, the seed of the woman, Christ, crushed the head of Satan, from which the Devil's deceitful trick originated to separate all humans from God, thereby cutting them off from their only source of life, which is God himself. Thus even if Satan had aimed at crushing the seed of the woman on the cross, he only succeeded in crushing his heel, because Christ rose from the dead.

So now we have a new reality, a new creation. Satan's aim to separate us from God, our only source of life, and thereby bringing about our death was undone. We no longer only need to die as sons of Adam, but we have now also the authority and power to become children of God by faith in Christ. If you believe in Jesus, our Savior, He reconnects you to our heavenly Father, our eternal source of life, by letting you be born again by God's Holy Spirit and thus become a child of God, having His eternal life in you. This is the fulfillment of God's plan of salvation in you and in all those, who believe in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

Have you opened your heart to the Lord Jesus and His Spirit, who gives you eternal life? And if you have done this, have you shared this global and eternal Gospel with others, who do not yet know or believe in Christ? Do so, and you will experience how God's plan of salvation becomes a reality in you and in all those, who put their trust and faith in this Savior, Jesus Christ, to the glory of God the Father.

MEMORIZE: For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. (1 Corinthians 15:22)

PRAYER: Oh Father, I confess before you my sins and my need for your salvation. In Adam we all die. But you have sent your Son, Jesus Christ, to bring us eternal life. I thank you for your salvation with all my heart. Live in me and fill me with your Holy Spirit, so that I can have fellowship with you in Christ forever as your child. Thank you that in the birth, life, death and resurrection of Christ you have fulfilled your plan of salvation, which you in the beginning revealed in your judgment over Satan in the presence of Adam and Eve. Allow us to spread this good news in our neighborhood, so that your plan of salvation becomes a reality in the lives of others, wherever you send us, be it in the Near East, in Africa, in Asia, in Europe or in the Americas.
