7. The River of the Water of Life Proceeding out the Throne of God and of His Lamb (Revelation 22:1-2)
The Trees of Life: The Greek version allows for thinking of trees of life standing in the midst of the great, wide square in the capital and of innumerable trees as well growing on either side of the river and having healthy wood. If you are deeply rooted in the gospel, then you will bear much fruit (Psalm 1:1-3)! The water of life transforms us into trees of life, whose leaves do not dry up in spite of scorching heat and which bear spiritual fruit not only once a year, but frequently, up to twelve times a year, yet the prerequisite thereof is that they are standing near the river of life. The palm groves at the Nile River or the Euphrates are bursting with strength and life, even though the desert begins just a few hundred meters away. The ground water waters their roots and causes much fruit.
The evangelist writes strangely that the “loaves” of these trees may heal sick people. If you copy and distribute the gospel or give out printed devotions and sermons, then you will bring health and life to those who are weak in faith or dead in their sins. Often some pieces of paper of a small leaflet or a booklet on spiritual topics have become the reason for unbelievers to find the real life. We not only are to bear spiritual fruits, but also to give out evangelistic leaflets in great numbers so as to promote the life from God and spiritual health in our nations.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, we thank You for the spiritual authority You gave to us to print papers in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ and send them to whoever requests them and distribute them among the needy. We praise You because they contain everlasting life, heal those that are spiritually sick, and make Your strength perfect in our weakness. Amen.
