REVELATION - Behold, I am Coming Soon
Studies in the Book of Revelation
BOOK 2 - THE ENTHRONEMENT OF JESUS CHRIST (REVELATION 4:1 - 6:17)
PART 2.2 JESUS CHRIST IS ENTHRONED BY GIVING HIM THE SEALED SCROLL (REVELATION 5:1-14)

1. The Preparations for the Enthronement (Revelation 5:1-6)

The Seven Horns of the Lamb: The Lamb of God today is not in a sorry state and has bled out, but it has risen. Jesus has really risen! He is alive and rules from eternity to eternity. Whoever does not believe this fact, will miss the reality of eternal life and run straight the road to his ruin.

In the Old Testament horns are often described as symbols of power (Numbers 23:22; Deuteronomy 33:17; Daniel 7:7; 8:3+5+12+20+21). In the book of Revelation too in different contexts it is spoken of horns (Revelation 12:3; 13:1+4; 17:3+7+11). The Lamb of God had seven horns as a sign of his all-embracing authority. Jesus had testified before his ascension, "All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations... "(Matthew 28:18-20).

The powerless condemned One, the unimpressive lamb has all authority in heaven and on earth. Whoever remains proud will have to live powerless. But whoever allows oneself to be broken and transformed into the image of the Lamb, through him will work the power of the risen Lord (2 Corinthians 12:9).

PRAYER: O gentle Lamb of God, we praise you and magnify you, because your heavenly Father gave you all authority in heaven and on earth. With your resurrection from the dead you proved your victory over all the powers opposing God and you bestowed on us a great hope that we will receive from you eternal life out of your kindness.

QUESTION:

  1. What is the meaning of the seven horns of the Lamb?
